Running Raleigh

How the job
works here.

Residential renovations, commercial builds, and municipal events all pull from the same yards. What changes in Raleigh is how quickly the truck reaches you, how we place it on local ground, and who signs what before it drops.

Step 01 · Delivery

How fast we can be there

Our Smithfield yard runs Raleigh daily — about 30 minutes from our lot to any driveway in town. Same cutoff for renovation drops and construction schedules.

  • Order by 4 PM, we’re at your address the next day
  • Two yards on standby (Smithfield + Mebane) if one is slammed
  • Busy building season doesn’t push the schedule
  • Weekend delivery available on request

Step 02 · Placement

Making it fit your driveway

Old Raleigh driveways run narrow; newer subdivisions have room to spare. We size the equipment to your address before we drop.

  • Narrow older-neighborhood driveways: we size to 16 or 20 yards
  • Newer I-440 subdivisions: any size we offer will fit
  • Tree canopy or low wires: we confirm clearance first
  • Commercial sites with a loading dock: we deliver right to it

Step 03 · Paperwork

We handle the permits

Wake County disposal paperwork rides on our credentials, not yours. If the town or your HOA needs anything, we tell you before you sign.

  • Wake County disposal permits: on us
  • In your driveway: no town permit at all
  • Street or event drops: we tell you what’s needed
  • HOA time limits on I-440: checked before signing

Areas within Raleigh

Neighborhoods
on the route.

The truck routes are the same across Raleigh, but placement is a block-by-block conversation. Each neighborhood below carries the note that changes how we deliver into it.

Downtown RaleighFayetteville Street + state capitol
The state capitol complex, Fayetteville Street, and the Warehouse District. Office tower renovations run 30-yard dumpsters and 40-yard compactors; street drops along Fayetteville or any public space go through City of Raleigh permitting. We route through building management or state facility services on access.
OakwoodVictorian historic district
One of the largest intact Victorian-era historic districts in the Southeast. Narrow lots, mature trees, 1890s-through-1910s homes. Renovations here go through the Raleigh Historic Development Commission on top of the standard building permit — we flag that on your quote. 16- and 20-yard dumpsters do most of the work.
MordecaiHistoric district + park
Historic Mordecai neighborhood with the Mordecai House and park at its center. Older homes, narrower driveways. Container placement in the designated historic district goes through the Raleigh Historic Development Commission — same flagging on the quote.
North HillsMidtown mixed-use
The North Hills mixed-use area in Midtown. Office towers, retail, hotels, apartments. Tenant renovations and ongoing commercial service here — we deliver straight to loading docks and schedule around retail traffic.
Brier CreekNorthwest retail + corporate
The Brier Creek retail and corporate area on the northwest side. Multi-tenant retail renovations, hotel work, and ongoing site services for the corporate office buildings. Mebane yard dispatches here; shorter drive than from Smithfield.
NC State / Hillsborough StreetUniversity area
The NC State campus and the Hillsborough Street student-housing area. Move-in and move-out weekends drive their own cycle on multi-unit cleanouts; football and basketball events generate restroom and handwashing calls on game days.
Dix ParkDowntown park + events
The 300-acre Dix Park just south of Downtown. Large event programming through the warm season — festivals, Dreamville, markets. We coordinate drop-off with venue staff on the event day.

Plus every subdivision, farm parcel, and residential street off I-40 and I-440 that isn’t named here.

Questions from Raleigh

The ones we get
every week here.

Do you handle historic district rules in Oakwood, Mordecai, or Boylan Heights?

Yes — we flag it on your quote before you sign. Any renovation in a designated Raleigh historic district has to go through the Raleigh Historic Development Commission on top of the standard building permit, and container placement on the street is part of what the Commission reviews. We tell you what that means for your rental schedule before we deliver.

Can you work Downtown — around the state government buildings or on Fayetteville Street?

Yes. Downtown office tower work, state government complex renovations, and Fayetteville Street tenant jobs are a regular route for us. For state government buildings, we route through state facility services on access. For office towers, through building management. Any container on the street or in a public space Downtown pulls a City of Raleigh permit, and we handle the submission so it doesn't land on you.

What about events at Dix Park, PNC Arena, or NC State?

Yes. Dix Park festivals, PNC Arena events, and NC State home games all draw crowds where Wake County health department rules require ADA units and separate handwashing stations near every food line. Raleigh event inspections run tighter than most of Wake because the crowd sizes are larger — we size the unit count accordingly and coordinate drop-off with venue staff.

Do you handle NC State move-out and move-in weekends?

Yes — the Hillsborough Street area runs its own cycle on those weekends. We stage additional dumpsters ahead of August move-in and May move-out, and walking floor trailers come in on the biggest building clearouts. Property management for the student-housing buildings routes the drop-off window with us ahead of time.

Which yard dispatches to my part of Raleigh?

East and south Raleigh — Downtown, Oakwood, Mordecai, Dix Park, I-440 east, South Raleigh — come out of our Smithfield yard, about thirty minutes away. West and north Raleigh — NC State, Cameron Village, North Hills, Brier Creek, I-540 west — come out of our Mebane yard, closer to those parts of town. We route automatically; you don't need to specify.

My project is next to I-40, I-440, or I-540 — do I need a state DOT permit?

If the container ends up on state highway land, yes. I-40, I-440, I-540, US-1 (Capital Boulevard), and US-70 are all state DOT roads. Placements next to them go through NCDOT rather than the City of Raleigh. We'll flag which one applies on your quote and get the permit for you. Containers on your private driveway or on a city street don't need an NCDOT permit.

What's your delivery window for Raleigh?

If you order before 4 PM, we dispatch next business day from whichever yard is closer to your address. Smithfield covers east and south Raleigh in about thirty minutes; Mebane handles west and north Raleigh in about forty-five. Same-day is sometimes available on early-morning orders — give us a call if you need it.

Do you cover the areas near Raleigh?

Yes. Garner, Knightdale, Cary, Morrisville, Wake Forest, Apex, and the rest of Wake County all ship from the yard closer to that address on the same next-day cutoff.

Two books, one team

Residential and commercial
run different ways.

Same yards, same routes, same next-day cutoff. What changes is the paperwork, the placement, and the pace. Homeowners want a driveway drop and a scheduled pull; contractors want an on-call swap-out cycle. Here’s how each side is set up in Raleigh.
