Residential renovations, commercial builds, and municipal events all pull from the same yards.Lillington is the Harnett County seat and sits where US-401 crosses the Cape Fear River — the river actually runs through town, which gives Lillington a defining natural feature no other town on our book shares. Raven Rock State Park sits just west along the Cape Fear with its namesake bluffs rising above the river. Campbell University in neighboring Buies Creek adds university-adjacent activity to the east, though the campus itself is in Buies Creek rather than Lillington. The Harnett County Courthouse anchors Main Street downtown as the civic center of the county. Growth here has been slower than up at Angier or Fuquay-Varina — the town is small (roughly 3,500 residents) and the historic layout is largely intact. The town is named for Alexander Lillington, a Revolutionary War general from the colonial-era NC militia. Our Smithfield yard sits about forty-five minutes east via NC-27 and US-401 — a Smithfield dispatch route rather than a Mebane one.
