How the town is built
Knightdale organizes around the US-64 strip and the Knightdale Station mixed-use district at the center of town. The historic Main Street area a few blocks away carries older postwar homes with narrow driveways — 16- and 20-yard dumpsters fit here. The Knightdale Station area itself is newer townhomes, apartments, and ground-floor retail where our local commercial work usually runs. South and east of there, the Hodge Road area is where most of the new subdivision building has happened over the last decade — wide driveways, generally lighter HOAs than the stricter master-planned towns, and the schedule constraint is usually the HOA's time limit rather than driveway access. The commercial layer is lighter than in neighboring Wake towns: the Knightdale Commons shopping area and the Knightdale Boulevard retail strip along US-64 handle most of it, with loading-dock placement standard on the compactor jobs.
