How the town is built
Graham's residential layout radiates out from the historic courthouse square more directly than any other city we serve. The blocks immediately around Court Square carry downtown civic and small-commercial buildings — government offices, courthouse-support businesses, and retail. The historic residential blocks south along Main Street and in the Oneida Mills area carry 1900s-1920s homes on narrow lots, including some of the better-preserved mill-era residential stock in Alamance County. The mid-century neighborhoods around the Alamance Community College area have standard driveways and mature trees. Newer subdivisions on the north and south edges off NC-54 and NC-87 are post-2000 builds with wide driveways and active HOAs.
