Trailer Septic Tanks
in Efland, NC.

Portable septic volume in Efland runs higher per capita than any other Orange County community we serve because much of Efland is on wells and septic rather than municipal sewer. The rural residential layout and the unincorporated character mean there's no central sewer line reaching most of the community. Portable septic tanks hold crew waste from restroom trailers and office trailers through long construction windows, and the occasional residential septic-system upgrade needs portable staging during the switchover. I-85 construction crews working outside the warehouse footprint also pull portable septic.

The ground in Efland

What placement
actually costs here.

Residential renovations, commercial builds, and municipal events all pull from the same yards.Efland is the only community on our Orange County book that isn't an incorporated town. It sits between Mebane and Hillsborough along I-85 and US-70, and the municipal side runs through Orange County directly rather than through a Town of Efland office that doesn't exist. The community itself is small — rural residential along Buckhorn Road, Mt. Willing Road, and the surrounding county roads, with a cluster of light-industrial and warehouse activity along the I-85 approach. The Southern Railway ran through Efland for most of a century and the rail line still crosses the community, which is why some of the oldest houses here sit close to the tracks. Residential growth has stayed slow compared to Mebane and Hillsborough on either side. Our Mebane yard sits about ten minutes west on I-85 — one of the shortest Orange County trips we run.

Property mix

How the town is built

Efland's property mix is the most rural on our Orange County book — more large-lot residential and working agricultural land than you'll find anywhere else in Orange or Alamance County that we serve. The rural residential along Buckhorn Road, Mt. Willing Road, and the surrounding county roads carries wide driveways and large lots, with any size dumpster we rent fitting most sites. Older rail-side homes along the Southern Railway line sit on smaller lots and carry a historic character even without a formal preservation district. The light-industrial and warehouse activity along the I-85 approaches runs the commercial volume, and the US-70 small-shop strip handles the roadside tenant work. The agricultural edge north toward Cedar Grove and west toward the Alamance County line still carries working farmland.

Access

How we get there

Efland runs from Mebane (~10 min) or Smithfield (~85 min)depending on that day's dispatch load. From either yard the way in is I-85 and US-70, then the residential streets through each neighborhood.

Permitting

Who signs what

Efland's permit flow runs through Orange County directly rather than through a town office, because Efland isn't an incorporated municipality — there's no Town of Efland planning counter to walk into. Building permits, land-use reviews, and the handful of subdivision HOA covenants all route through Orange County. We handle the Orange County submission on your behalf as part of standard scheduling. I-85, US-70, and NC-119 are state highways, so placements adjacent to them add a state DOT permit, which we also submit. The Southern Railway line through Efland still carries active freight — right-of-way setbacks apply to anything on or near the tracks. Orange County rules on disposal apply on the back end — our hauling licenses cover that side.
