Temporary Fencing
in Benson, NC.

Mule Days crowd-control perimeter fencing is the biggest Benson event we support — panels across the downtown festival area for the four-day event. Subdivision perimeter work on the Raleigh-side subdivisions runs the standard construction cadence. Downtown Benson infill projects usually need short panels, hand-set, because the lots are small and the historic character is part of the placement conversation.

The ground in Benson

What placement
actually costs here.

Residential renovations, commercial builds, and municipal events all pull from the same yards.Benson's biggest annual event isn't a music festival or a Fourth of July parade — it's Mule Days, the four-day celebration of mule and horse traditions that's been held in Benson since 1950 and draws tens of thousands of visitors each September. The town itself is small, mostly residential, with a historic small-village core along the US-301 Main Street area. Benson sits in southern Johnston County, close to our Smithfield yard — the shortest trip we run outside Mebane itself. Residential growth has come from the broader Raleigh-metro spillover filling in on the north and west edges of town.

Property mix

How the town is built

Benson is one of the smaller Johnston County towns we serve, with the residential layout organized around the historic US-301 Main Street core. The historic blocks downtown carry older homes on narrow lots where 16- and 20-yard dumpsters fit. The mid-century residential sections surrounding downtown have mature trees and standard driveway widths. The newer subdivisions on the north and west edges of town — closer to the broader Raleigh-metro spillover — are post-2000 builds with wide driveways and active HOAs. On the commercial side, the US-301 small-shop strip handles most retail work, and the I-40 commercial approaches on the north edge of town run the warehouse and distribution volume.

Access

How we get there

Benson runs from Smithfield (~15 min) or Mebane (~110 min)depending on that day's dispatch load. From either yard the way in is I-40 and US-301, then the residential streets through each neighborhood.

Permitting

Who signs what

Benson's permit flow runs on two different schedules — the standard flow nine months of the year, and the Mule Days schedule during late September. During the four-day Mule Days festival window, downtown street work tightens up considerably, and we schedule container drops and pickups around the event calendar. Outside Mule Days, the Town of Benson handles street-use permits for anything on public property, and we take care of the submission for you. Driveway placements don't need a town permit. US-301, I-40, NC-242, and NC-50 are state highways, so adjacent-to-highway placements add an NCDOT permit, which we handle too. Johnston County rules on disposal apply on the back end — our hauler credentials cover that.
